NinjaTrader Market Analyzer: columns, filters and missing rows

A missing Market Analyzer row can be a display filter. A blank indicator cell can be a column setting. Check which symptom you have before reconnecting.

Quick answer

NinjaTrader Market Analyzer is a configurable quote sheet for multiple instruments. If an instrument row disappears, turn off Row Filter temporarily to check whether a filter condition hid it. If the row remains but one indicator cell is blank or differs from a chart, inspect that column's indicator and data settings. Missing quotes across other windows point to a separate market-data problem.

Set up the columns before adding a large instrument list

Open New > Market Analyzer from the Control Center. Right-click inside the window and choose Columns to add the price, indicator or position information you need. Configure these columns before adding many instruments; NinjaTrader recommends that order to reduce repeated historical-data loading.

An Indicator column needs both the chosen indicator and its Plot. A multi-plot indicator can display different values depending on that selection. Add instruments with the window's Add Instrument(s) menu after the column setup is ready.

Row Filter hides rows; Cell Conditions format cells

If a row returns when you disable Row Filter, inspect the configured Filter Conditions before treating its disappearance as a connection failure. A condition that filters values below 30 hides those rows; it does not select them for display.

Cell Conditions are evaluated from the top down. Put a narrower condition above a broader one that would also match: for example, greater than 100 before greater than 30. Also check Apply to when a condition works for some instruments but not others.

ControlWhat it changesWhere to inspect it
Cell ConditionsA cell's text or colors when its value meets a condition.Columns > selected column > Conditions > Cell.
Filter ConditionsWhether the entire instrument row is hidden by a column's condition.Columns > selected column > Conditions > Filter.
Row FilterWhether configured row-filter conditions are active.Right-click the Market Analyzer grid > Row Filter.

Why an indicator cell can differ from the chart

Compare the selected indicator and Plot, then the Input Series, bar Type and Value, Trading hours, loaded history and Calculate setting. An indicator on one-minute bars does not necessarily match the same indicator on a different chart series.

On bar close updates the indicator when a bar closes; it can stay unchanged while live prices move. Switching to On each tick changes calculation frequency and resource use, not the selected data series. For the detailed timing distinctions, use the Calculate guide below.

For a text-based column that is blank, check its display Type: NinjaTrader requires Regular, not BarGraph.

Auto Sort changes row order, not indicator calculation

Click a column header to choose ascending or descending order. Then right-click the grid and enable Auto Sort if you want rows to keep rearranging as values change. Set the refresh interval in the Market Analyzer Properties window.

Label rows divide instruments into groups: instruments under one label sort within that group. A row that moves within its group has not necessarily disappeared or stopped receiving data.

Separate a slow scan from a missing feed

Many instruments multiplied by many indicator columns can take time to initialize. More requested historical bars also increase loading and memory use. Reduce an unnecessary column or instrument group when isolating that workload; very frequent Auto Sort intervals add CPU work too.

After compiling a changed custom indicator or column, Market Analyzer does not automatically reload that code. Use its right-click Reload NinjaScript command, or F5, to load the changes.

If the row is present but quotes are missing, compare the exact instrument in another quote window. Missing quotes there call for provider, subscription and session checks. If quotes work elsewhere, return to the affected column's settings rather than repeatedly reconnecting.
